Location was ok, and you get a free drink card when you check in.

We stayed in the Clay hotel a total of 4 nights. The first night was a Saturday night - so we expected there to be noise, especially reading the reviews. There was loud music and we could hear other guests through the paper thin walls - to be fair, this was the only loud night there was. I think thats because the rest of the floor either checked out, or was moved rooms due to the renovations that proceeded Monday morning onwards. The following morning (sunday) the cleaning staff woke us up - not for housekeeping, but yelling in spanish to each other up and down the hotel (note, paper thin walls) and every other morning the renovations started before 8am!!! The first morning, when it sounded like the builders had a sledgehammer right next to us, I called the front desk and asked what the urgency was to start before 8am in the morning? Someone must have asked them to start, because bless them, they stopped for a whole 20 minutes before starting again. So, 4 of our 5 mornings we were woken up by renovations, but a total of 5 out of 5 mornings we were woken up. Location wise, its great, but if you need sleep to do anything I wouldnt stay here,

    Location was great

The room and hotel were extremely dated.

There are no elevators in the bldg we stayed in. We had to haul suitcases up 3 flights of narrow outside stairs. Plus the door frame to the room let in a lot of light at night. Good place to stay for price if you dont need a lot of comfort.

It was near the beach, 5 min. walk. The Spanish street next to the hotel was very nice, lots of restaurants with seats next to the street, which is closed for traffic in the evening. The room was neat and big enough for 4 pe ople.

The man on reception was really lovely and helpful in finding places to eat and drink. The room was really clean and the air con was already on to cool the room for us. The mexican restaurant on the corner where u check in is the best food I have eaten, best margaritas I have had and was a fun street to be staying on. Be aware that if ur after a good nights sleep it won't happen here as the streets are full of live music and fun! If u get in late it's fine as people were sitting down for dinner at 11pm!! I will definintly stay here again! Location for authenticity, cleanliness and wifi was great!

It's on a busy street so u won't like the noise all night if ur after a good nights sleep but that was pretty much the case with every hotel! Just embrace the noise!

I stayed twice at the clay hotel. My first room was very quiet with only two windows that did not face any streets -- only faced the other part of the building. My second room was on the ground floor with three or four huge windows in an outdoor motel-like setting that was pretty noisy. But all in all if you're used to staying in hostels and used to bare necessities, then this hotel will do. It's especially good if you're a couple looking for a private room with a good south beach location and price. Hostels would've been cheaper than clay hotel but we wanted a private room. Quick note about the toiletries -- they don't provide shampoo or anything like that. You gotta bring your won.

    Location

I reserved a family room. When I got there, the person at the reception told me they do not have a family room. Instead, we received two rooms with a shared bathroom. Why did they advertise in the first place that they have family rooms when they don't?

The location was fantastic. Two blocks from the beach. Walking distance to Lincoln Mall, movie theater, restaurants. Hotel staff was extremely accommodating and friendly. The layout of our room was excellent. More like a suite than a double room. Common areas available for relaxing.

Can't say there was anything I didn't like. Honesly, I was expecting a flea-bag hotel based on some of the on-line reviews. I was pleasantly surprised at the charm of the hotel and the friendly staff.

    Location, relatively cheap, clean room.

Small bathroom, bad window. The staff had forgot my reservation. If the hotel had been full I´d had problem with check in. I had to call Booked.net, that immediately contacted the hotel to solve the problem.

Great place to stay if want to visit South Beach and also go to the beach. Also a great place prior to going on a cruise, easy to go to the Port. The hotel was very clean, currently making renovations. It was a quaint place to stay and actually nicer than I thought it would be based on other reviews. We would definitely consider The Clay Hotel again.

The room we stayed in had bamboo shades and it was very bright in the morning. Also, people across the way staying at the hotel could see into the room at night when our lights were on and we could also see them. There was only 1 small closet in our double queen room and no where to put luggage on the one side.
